Madam, I am shocked and worried by what I have been told is happening at Tudorville Cemetery.

My brother was buried there in 2001 after being killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 33. As we are a large family, he had six siblings and left three young children, there have always been vases of flowers on his grave.

On Friday my younger sister was at the cemetery replacing the vases when she was told by the cemetery manager that vases are not allowed on the graves.

He said that all the graves were due to be flattened and then seed sown on them so that they can be mown straight over.

My sister pointed out that some graves had flowers growing on them and he said that they would be dug up.

My sister asked if he thought it was disrespectful to mow over the graves and he said no. We have been brought up to respect the dead, not to walk over graves etc.

Many families are going to be very upset by this and we are now in touch with Ross Town Council.

T Neville, Ross
