Another charity fundraising coffee morning is taking place November 2 at the Larruperz Centre.

The last one was held in aid of Dementia UK and raised £115. The prize raffle was won by a member of the Wednesday drop in lunch, Mrs P Davies.

The fundraisers usually take place on the first market of the month. Organisers plan to have 17 stalls lined up. The weekly market is becoming increasingly popular, with there now being a waiting list for stalls.

There will be more dates in the run up to Christmas; November dates will be 2, 16, and 30 and then on December 7, 14, and 21. There will be two coffee mornings in December, 7 and 21.

The market, which was established this year, has been gaining a good momentum with people queuing to get in. A total of £127 was raised in an earlier market this year to go to KTS Crafts who have raised an incredible amount of money for Ukraine, as well as sending over a substantial number of trucks loaded up with aid.

That particular fundraiser was what inspired organiser Michelle Gardiner to make the first market of every month a fundraising event, for a different charity every time. The plan is to bolster the effectiveness of the event by supporting local businesses as well as a charitable cause at the same time.

Michelle makes an effort to keep a rotation of a limited number of new stalls every time as well as a good number of regular sellers, so that there’ll always be something new for weekly visitors as well as an stalls where they can pick up produce on a more regular basis.
