ROSS-on-Wye Town Council is planning to enter the town into next year’s Britain in Bloom competition.
As a means of promoting the town, the council and inviting children and schools in Ross to help us create something special - a new logo for Ross in Bloom, which encompasses three core themes of the ‘In Bloom’ competition.
In 2023 Ross achieved a silver award for the town in the national competition, and its Ross-on-Wye Linear Arboretum received a Level four Thriving It's Your Neighbourhood Award from the Royal Horticultural Society and Heart of England in Bloom.
These awards followed a period of absence from the competition, marking a successful return for the town's volunteer efforts.
A spokesperson for the council said that the competition to design a logo is a fantastic opportunity for children to showcase their creativity and love for their town.
The winning design will be used across all the council’s Ross in Bloom campaign materials and would be a logo the whole town can be proud of.
Entries, which must include the child’s name, age, school (if applicable) and contact details of parent/guardian along with a short description of their design, can be submitted by email [email protected] or postal entries to Town Hall, Cantilupe Road, Ross-on-Wye HR9 7AN.
Closing date for entries is September 19. The competition is open to children under the age of 16 who live in, or go to school in Ross.
The Ross in Bloom logo should feature the local horticulture, the town’s beautiful plants, flowers and green space; the environment, looking after the town and its natural surroundings and the community, bringing people together and taking pride in the town.
The design should be drawn on plain white A4 paper and scanned before submitting by email or dropped in or posted to the town council offices in Cantilupe Road.
