Thanks to the work of a few dedicated people who go out in all weathers and at different times of the day, the streets and pathways around Ross-on-Wye are much freer from litter than they used to be.
As the footpaths and verges are kept tidy this has inspired more people to get out with their litter pickers and collection bags. Three of these are youngsters Oskar Vaitkevciene, who is seven-years-old, Viktorija who is four, and Aleksandras who is just 17 months.
Their latest litter pick was on June 24th and Mum, Svetlana told the Ross Gazette that it was Oskar’s idea. He said that he wants to save animal’s lives and for his birthday he got his own litter picker.
Svetlana told the Ross Gazette: “Oskar and Viktorija did a great job, they had a full bag of rubbish in 30 minutes time.”
She added: “We want to share this story because we are very proud parents and we would like to encourage people to do the same, especially with children.”
The family are planning to continue their litter picking.
