Ross-on-Wye and District Motor Sports Club have had a very busy time recently. On Thursday, June 23rd they held a grass auto test at St Weonards, where there was a large entry of 24 cars over five tests. The final winner was Adrian Gwynne in a Mini 1000.
On Saturday, June 25th Matt Edwards and Will Rogers took part in the RSAC Scottish rally, finishing 11th overall, winning their class in a Mitsubishi Evo. A very good result as there were over 100 entries.
Also on Saturday, June 25th, around 14 club members went to Bristol to tackle the Washingpool Farm Targa Rally which was a very good event held over tarmac and gravel surfaces. This comprised of ten tests with an excellent result for Rich Mclachlan and Simon Harris, who finished first overall out of fifty entries, a very taxing day.
Fortunately, the rain held off until after the end of the event, however, this did make it a very dusty event, there’s never a perfect rallying surface.
Unfortunately, the week ended badly as the club had to cancel the Wye Valley trail, which should have been held on Sunday, June 26th.
All the hills were set out with markers on the Friday in preparation however, the weekend weather got the better of the event. This will now be rescheduled to a later date which will be announced in due course.
On Saturday, July 2nd the club hosted one of the controls for the National Motor Cycle Rally which involved 120+ motor cyclists from all over the country descending on the Ross Club House in Kyrle Street from 12 noon until 5am on Sunday. As usual there are always some late comers.
All the signage had been removed just after 5am only to hear two more bikes coming up Kyrle Street. The marshal popped out to stop them just in time to complete their time control papers. No sooner had they arrived upstairs in the club house when four more bikes arrived.
Thankfully they were the last and the marshals could make a swift exit home to their beds.
The Motor Club would like to thank all the marshals involved in the event.
