Ross and District Motor Sports Club held the last auto test of the winter season at the livestock centre in Ross-on-Wye at the beginning of the month.
There were 25 entrants split across two disciplines and four classes. The production car class was won by Maisie Emms in a Mini 998cc, followed by Matt Parker in a Mini Scamp and third was James Endicott in a Peugeot 205. There was a very good result from all nine starters, which included the rather large Honda CRV, which caused much amusement as it was hauled around the tightly placed cones.
The main event was split into three classes, class one front wheel drive under 150 inches was won by Ernie Burles of Bath Motor Club in a Mini 1275 GT, with his brother, Tom, coming second in the same car and Rich McLachlan in a Peugeot 205 coming third.
Class two front wheel drive over 150 inches was won by James Price in a Mitsubishi Colt, with Andrew Helme in a Seat Ibiza coming second. Class four rear wheel drive over 156 inches was won by Bob Barker who also took overall honours for the whole event again. Second was Ollie Jenkins in a Mazda MX5 with Graham Spencer, also in a Mazda MX5, coming third.
The Club is very grateful to the organisers and the competitors without whom this season of events could not take place. Thanks also to the livestock centre for their kind permission for use of the site. The next event is the inter club auto test versus Hereford Motor Club, on grass, at 2pm on Sunday, April 23rd at Hatsford Farm, HR8 2QJ. The first grass auto test will be at 7pm on Thursday, May 25th at Old Hendre, St Weonards, HR2 8PD.
Everyone is welcome to visit the club on Kyrle Street on any Thursday from 8pm.
