Temperatures of almost 30 degrees and a strong southerly wind greeted the 16 riders at the latest Ross CC time trial on Thursday evening.

This gave exceptionally fast times for the first five miles to the turn of just over nine minutes for the quicker riders but this was paid for in a big way on the uphill and headwind return.

Fastest on the night was Steve Millard followed by Jonny Webb of Gannet CC, with the fast improving Matt Fallon (getting ready for the hill climb season) just taking third ahead of race sec Paul Stephens. Andy Turner did a personal best for 10 miles, a strong performance from the Climb on Bikes rider but chased hard all the way by Max Suff and James Wilson. Dave Harwood was off his normal pace, probably due to a lack of race miles this season, just beating Tom Knight by a single second. Nigel Skyrme came home in a solid 10th place, with Sarah Cosker doing an excellent ride to come home first of the road bike users. Gary Downs found the return very tough to finish in 12th. Wayne Mason in his first proper crack at Old Gore this year just missed out on a 20 mph ride as did Paul Middleton in 14th. 15th place went to Tim Newland with 16th going to Jon Airey who suffered more than most with the return conditions.
