Angela Whitehead, 50, ran the Newport Marathon on Sunday, April 29th for her chosen charity, Matthew Walklin’s Make A Smile Foundation.

Matt set up this amazing charity himself while going through the trauma of chemotherapy He knew that it is never going to be easy, but he wanted to find a way to make it a little more bearable, something to help with the emotional and mental stress, trying to bring a smile when it’s most needed. Sadly Matt completed his journey with cancer age 27.

However, his lovely parents, Lorraine and Mike, were waiting at the finish line for Angela. She told the Ross Gazette it was incredibly emotional but they are positive in keeping Matt’s legacy alive.

The money raised will go to the Vellindre Cancer Centre, to continue the hard work Matt promoted.

Angela’s money giving page is still open, any donation would be gratefully received, please visit: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Angela.Whitehead1See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now
