Luke Jones, a local motorbike racer, was at Snetterton 300 over the weekend, in Round 5 of the British Superbike Championship.
Luke was racing on his Triumph 675. He competes in the Supersport Class, and had practice on the Friday, which went well. With a few adjustments he was ready for qualifying on the Saturday morning and the first race over 10 laps in the afternoon.
The weather did cause a problem for the set up of the bike in the qualifying race, and Luke ended up finishing 22nd on the grid for the afternoon race.
Luke started this race well, and soon made his way up through the field, and by lap eight, he was in fifth place.
Unfortunately, Luke then came in to contact with another rider and crashed.
Luke came away from the crash with an ankle problem, which caused him a lot of pain in the second race on the Sunday, which was run over 15 laps.
At the start of the race, Luke was on row three of the grid. He rode well, and was up to third place on lap five, but due to his ankle pain, he ended up in fifth place at the checquered flag.
Luke’s next round will be at Thruxton on July 22nd, 23rd and 24th. He currently stands in fourth place overall in the Championship, with 94 points.
