It has been another busy weekend for the Monross-Trailblazers, starting with the Blorenge Fell Race on Saturday, December 2nd, with a 1443ft elevation (2.3 mile) race up and down the steepest face of the Blorenge Mountain. Out of approximately 85 runners, Andrew Stephens finished in an impressive eighth place, Martin Scrivens finishing in a hard fought 31st with brother Mark Scrivens, finishing in 37th.
On Sunday, December 3rd, it was the third Herefordshire Cross Country League Race at Monkhall Farm, and it was also a Herefordshire County championships race, with a very muddy terrain and a challenging two lap 6.1 mile race.
Out of 100 men, Gavin Jones put in a great performance, finishing 7th, with a time of 41min 42 seconds, Luke Gray finished 13th, with 42 min 43 seconds, closely followed by Andrew Stephens, his second race of the weekend, in an impressive 14th, with a time of 42 min 51 seconds.
Next home was Bobby Pritchard in 25th, with a time of 45 min 30 seconds, closely followed by Toby Dickens, who put up another fantastic race in 27th, with 46 min 09 seconds.
Sam Harness finished 31st with a time of 47 min 10 seconds, and Martin Scrivens, another of the Blazers competing in their second race of the weekend, finished in 42nd with 49 min 18 seconds.
James Fletcher was not far behind and still running strong in 47th, with a time of 49 min 54 seconds, and Tony Davies finished in 73rd, with an impressive time of 54 min 54 seconds.
The men’s team is still in a very impressive third place overall, with only two races left to go.
In the Ladies category, with 57 ladies racing, Laura Lelievre finished in a very strong fifth place, with a time of 50 min 35 seconds, and Vanessa Ball finished 27th, with 60 min 26 seconds.
The next Monross Trailblazers training session will be at John Kyrle High School on Wednesday, December 6th, at 18:30. Please bring a high vis vest and a headtorch.
