Ross Rowing Club’s junior scullers returned from the Wycliffe Head on Saturday with no less than 10 medals – four of them gold.
Ben Clatworthy led the way with two gold medals, with Cameron Roberts, Daisy Phillips, Lara Banks-Martin and Elsa Sykes also winning gold medals in this high quality event held on the canal at Saul Junction.
This was an impressive performance for the club against no less than 500 other crews from up and down the country. Silver medals were brought home by Heidi Brodholt, Katie Smith and Beth Morris – all in single sculls – and Flynn Piper, Naomi Banks-Martin, Lucy Burden and Emily Hermon secured bronze medals.
This success in small boats is a resounding endorsement of the training focus on single sculls at the club, and builds on the extremely encouraging results at Henley Long Distance Sculls a few weeks ago. Ross Juniors are heading next to Walton-on-Thames on Saturday and Monmouth on Sunday, in what has been a very busy, and successful, early winter schedule.
