THE Royal Forest of Dean Cycling Club held their annual dinner and prize giving at The Orepool, Sling, recently.

Guest Speaker for the night was Graeme Freestone King, the Head Technician for Campagno in the UK. This was a fascinating talk from a very entertaining speaker, giving the inside story on his trips all over the world and dealings with the professional cycling scene.

Tradition demands a ‘Recovery Ride’ on the Sunday morning.

There’s always hope of huge numbers turning out to take part, but the reality is that some will evitably over indulge.

The Club would like to thank everyone who so generously supplied raffle prizes. £162.00 was raised for local charity Charlotte’s Tandem. The charity lends out, at no cost, tandems and tag-alongs to those with disabilities who still want to enjoy the freedom of cycling. More information can be found at www.charlottestandems.co.uk

On Sunday, December 10th the club will host their first Cycle Jumble Sale. This will be held at Parkend Memorial Hall. The sale runs from 10.30am -12.30pm, entry is free for buyers. More information can be found at www.rdfcc.org.uk.

The New Year will bring many promises of new exercise regimes for locals. For some this will be short lived. Nevertheless, you’ll find a warm welcome at the cycling club to test out your January sales Lycra purchases. Why not join them for a ride?
