It has been a good outdoor bowls season for Ross so far, on a very fast green due to the very hot, sunny weather. Representing Ross Bowls Club, and Herefordshire Ladies, at Bowls England 2018 Championships at Leamington Spa in August is Kate Williams in the Junior and Senior Singles.

She will be joined by Helen Harmes, Mary Gardner and Teresa Williams in the Ladies’ Rinks, and then by Kerri Palmer of ‘St Martins BC’ in the Junior Pairs.

Marcia Gwynne and Jenny Murray will compete in the Four Wood Pairs.

In the Men’s Championships, Mike Ricketts, Dave Magness, Barry Payne, and Martin Smith are the County Champions in the Senior Rinks. In the Triples are Mike Ricketts, Dan Palmer, Shaun Jones and Four Wood Pairs are Lee Barber and Shaun, and finally in the Two wood Singles, this year’s County Champion, Glyn Williams.

Ross Men are on course to retain the Wyvern League competition; the Ladies competition has been used as a platform to integrate new bowlers into a different standard of bowls.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
