This year’s Annual Presentation Dinner was held at Penyard House Hotel and was attended by 70 members of Ross-on-Wye Bowls Club.

Those present received their awards for what has been a good outdoor bowling season with over 80 members who took part in the Club’s internal competitions which finalised with finals taking place on Saturday, August 31st. Again this year there was some excellent bowling with very close games, the results of which were as follows:

Ladies’ Four Wood Singles: Champion Mary Gardner; runner-up Kate Williams.

Men’s Four Wood Singles (Drake): Champion Dan Palmer; runner-up Peter Wright.

Novice Four Wood Singles: Champion David Keen; runner-up Phil Lear.

Two Wood Open Singles: Champion Les Williams; runner-up Irene Leake.

Rabbit open Singles handicap: Champion Les Williams; runner-up Adge Ruck.

Open Two Wood Pairs: Winners Betty Aubrey and Harold Aubrey; runners-up Mike Baugh & Les Williams.

Ladies’ Four Wood Pairs: Winners Lynda Evans and Sue Dix; runners-up Bernice Isaacs & Mary Gardner

Men’s Four Wood Pairs: Winners Jeremy Watkins and John Cummings; runners-up Tony Beizsley & Harold Aubrey.

Mixed Pairs: Champions Marcia Gwynne & Shaun Jones; runners-up Linda Lewis & Phil Jenkinson.

Ladies’ Triples: Winners Lynda Evans, Linda Lewis, & Marcia Gwynne; runners-up Pauline Mills, Chris Edwards and Mary Gardner.

Men’s Triples: Champions Adge Ruck, Jeremy Watkins &andBarry Payne; runners-up Tony Vitale, Dave Watkins, and Richard Cooke.

Men’s Rink: Winners Geoff Harnwell, Jonathan Dalton, Tony Edwards & Peter Askwith; runners-up Tony Vitale, Adge Ruck, Richard Cooke and Barry Payne.

The Monday afternoon triples league winners were Sarie Prichard, Terry Horsley and David Keen. And the Clubs Medley day was won by Irene Leake, Rob Banner, Terry Brock and Steve Malsom.

In 2020 Ross Bowls Club will be celebrating its 100 year as a club and has a very full programme for the next season, attracting visiting teams from Bowls England, The Barbarians, Wyvern League just to name a few. Over the months leading up to the Green opening in April 2020, the Club has its winter Short Mat season which has started well with Sue Dix, Gwen Lambert, Bernard Glover and Phil Jenkinson coming runners-up in the County rinks competition and the County leagues have already started.
