ASTON Ingham Bowls Club are thrilled and proud to receive the CDO Community Engagement 2025 Award from Bowls Herefordshire, reports CHRISTINE RIVERS.

The hard work of Jill Eyles and her enthusiastic team of members have welcomed various community groups for playing and taster sessions, including the Forest of Dean Carer's Hub, Dementia Matters, Newent Runners, Pound Farm and Newent and Gorsley scouts, while next Spring, they will also welcome local guides, brownies, cubs and rainbows.

This has been achieved thanks to generous grants from the UK Government, Herefordshire Council, the Herefordshire Community Fund and support from the Bowls Development Alliance.

The club also raised £13,500 via a Crowdfunder with a grant from National Lottery, Sport England to provide extra car-parking space to cater for their growing membership and community visitors.

Members have enthusiastically carried out the building of a ditch, removal of hedges and will create space for a further 12-plus spaces.

Bowls Club Life continues, providing enjoyable activity via many competitions and an increase in the number of teams and players competing.

Non-competitive occasions are also very much part of the calendar, with friendly roll-ups, followed by tea and coffee, while the social scene has seen quizzes, lunches, dinners, breakfasts and teas.
