Ross Bowling Club finals took place over a number of days due to members participating at the Bowls England Championships at Leamington Spa. After some excellent bowling and very close games the results were:
Ladies’ Four Wood Singles Champion is Marcia Gwynne; runner-up Kate Williams
Men’s Four Wood Singles (Drake) Champion is Martin Smith; runner-up Glyn Williams
Novice Four Wood Singles Champion is Henry Watkins (Jr); runner-up George Aubrey (Jr).
Two Wood Open Singles Champion is Martin Smith; runner-up Ian Roe.
Rabbit Open Singles handicap Champion is Steve Lambert; runner-up Graham Scarborough
Open Two Wood Pairs winners are Richard Cooke & Martin Smith; runners-up Lynda Evans & Terry Brock.
Ladies’ Four Wood Drawn Pairs winners are Jenny Murray & Mary Gardner; runners-up Lynda Evans & Lyn Cole
Men’s Four Wood Pairs winners are Ian Roe & Dave Watkins; runners-up Tony Vitale & Glyn Williams.
Mixed Pairs champions are Marcia Gwynne & Martin Smith; runners-up Elaine & Rob George
Ladies’ Triples winners are Pauline Mills, Liz Watkins & Kate Williams; runners-up Linda Lewis, Betty Aubrey & Marcia Gwynne.
Men’s Triples champions are Alun Hillier, Graham Scarborough & Mike Baugh; runners-up Rob George, Adge Ruck & Glyn Williams.
Men’s Rink winners are Adge Ruck, Ian Heathcote, Glyn Williams & Richard Cooke; runners-up Graham Scarborough, Tony Vitale, Mike Baugh & Martin Smith.
The Monday afternoon triples league winners are Gwen Lambert, David Millington-Jones & Harold Aubrey; runners-up were Lynda Evans, Tony Beizsley & Peter Askwith.
The Friday evening Three Woods Open Pairs league was won by The Incredibowls (who were Renée Buttery, Jonathan Dalton & Martin Smith); close runners-up were The Green Army (Joan Baker, Maurice Leake & Glyn Williams); in third place were The Ditchers (Irene Leake, Dave Knight & Terry Brock). Several members received special awards for various obscure reasons which caused much hilarity on the night.
