After a convincing win last week, Ross were confident of defeating table-toppers Bredon on Saturday, even taking into account some late drop outs with illness. However after a closely fought first half , Bredon ran out 19-3 victors, pushing Ross one place down the league standings to fifth.
Ross started brightly, controlling both ball and territory. Both sides looked to establish a hold on the game, Craig Powell opened the scoring with an assured penalty and Ross looked comfortable. Some crunching tackles from Mike Chandler and Casey Morgan in the forwards, and Chay Brine in the backs, put the home side on the back foot, however Ross' Achilles heel was falling foul of the referee's whistle, this gave Bredon the opportunity to attack from deep and although the Ross defence were comfortable in dealing with the home side's attack it was infringements that led to two Bredon penalties that saw them go into half time 6-3 ahead.
