Local MP?Jesse Norman has been granted a Commons debate on the future of non league football following his "deep concern" about the situation at Hereford United. Mr Norman announced yesterday (Tuesday, July 22nd) that he had been granted a parliamentary debate on Thursday, September 4th, to be held at around midday, and that a minister from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport will have the opportunity to respond. Jesse Norman said: "The priority for my speech will be the situation at Hereford United, but I also hope to cover some of the broader issues facing lower-league football. "I will be working on my speech over the next few weeks and would be interested to receive any contributions from fans, HUFC creditors or anyone else who cares about football in the community." Mr Norman's announcement follows yet more behaviour, from Hereford United, that has put more distance between the club's owner, London businessman Tommy Agombar, and his advisors, and the club's supporters.
