THE last couple of months have been a busy time for the Monross-Trailblazers.

On May 14th, three members of the club took part in the Hereford Running festival. Mark Scrivens and Gerry Meredith took part in the marathon. Gerry completed the 26.2 mile race in 3 hours 47 minutes, in 13th place. Mark was close behind after a strong run in 3 hours 51 minutes, 16th place out of a field of 48 runners. Meanwhile on the Half-Marathon; Gavin Jones completed the distance in 1 hour 21, in 6th place out of 429 finishers.

On May 25th, members from Monross-Trailblazers took part in the Forest of Dean Athletics club organised Forest 5. This was a five mile trail race on the forest tracks around Parkend. Gavin Jones came 5th overall, in a time of 32 minutes, 42 seconds. Bobby Prichard came home soon after in 18th place, in 37 minutes 33 seconds. Mark Scrivens was next in 26th place, in 38 minutes 55 seconds. New club member Tim Oliver came soon after in 38th place, 41 minutes 23 seconds.

Then on June 7th, club members took part in the last of the 5k series. This is organised by Hereford Couriers. Throughout the series all runners in the club have made sizeable improvements over the 5k series. Gavin Jones ran a 16 minutes 55 second race, to give him 15th place in the competitive field. Bobby Prichard managed 34th place in 18 minutes 45 seconds. Nigel Baker followed close behind in 20 minutes 11 seconds. Soon after Vanessa Ball finished in 60th place with a time of 22 minutes 17 seconds. Unfortunately Andrew Stephens pulled out of the race with a hamstring issue, but was on form for a top 10 finish.

On Wednesday, June 14th, club members will be taking part in the Summer Hereford Cross Country league. Training will resume as usual on Wednesday 21st June at 6:30pm from Fernbank Road.
