Ross Rowing Club Junior Academy entered six crews at Saturday's Junior Championships held at Peterborough's four-lane rowing venue, and came away with four medals.

Tom Scott won bronze in the J13 single sculls, coming third out of 14 of the best scullers in his age category, and that achievement was matched by a brave display in the WJ13 double sculls by Fran Watling and Adrienne Howell against much larger opposition.

The WJ13 quadruple scull gold was won by Naomi Banks-Martin, Isobel Newey, Jessica Saxon-Macrostie and Scarlett Brodholt, coxed by Oliver Sturgess, in a storming display against some of the top girls' rowing schools in the country. They posted a time of 3:56.3 – a time fast enough to have won gold in the age category above.

The Ross medal haul was completed with gold by Gabby Howell and Emily Morris in the J12 double sculls, in which they comprehensively out-rowed much larger male opposition from Hinksey Sculling School and Oratory School using superb sculling technique.

Having posted very impressive times in the first heat and the semi-final, the WJ14 double combination of Alice Vines and Ali Banks-Martin were unlucky to finish fourth in the final, while Nick Burden (J14 single scull) rowed very impressively in his comeback race following a long lay-off after breaking his arm.
