ON the morning of Sunday, November 11th, Goodrich Ladies ’D’ynamoes were playing host to Woolhope ’C’ in Division 6 of the H & W Winter League.

Playing as the first pair, Shani Courtney and Debbie Trigg were involved in a very tight first rubber against the Woolhope first pair. They lost the first set with a score of 4-6, but came bouncing back to win the second set which went to a tie-break, 7-6.

With a set apiece, the third set was always going to be a tense affair. This also resulted in a tie-break, but this time it went the way of Woolhope’s pair.

On the other court, Diane Webb and Karla Morris, playing the Woolhope second pair, did not waste any time in winning their rubber in straight sets, 6-0/6-0. Following their success, they retired to the clubhouse for some light refreshments and cheered on their team mates playing on the courts.

In their second rubber, Shani and Debbie were able to get the job done in straight sets, winning 6-2/6-4.

Diane and Karla took a slightly longer route, dropping the first set 3-6, but wining the second set 6-4, and the third set 7-6.

Overall, the ’D’ynamoes won 3 rubbers to 1. This closely contested success puts them in third place in the division after 3 matches. Their next match is on Sunday, November 18th, when they will travel to Hallow to play their ’C’ team.
