Ross and District Motor Sports Club recently held their Spring Auto Solo event at Mitcheldean. There were 40 entrants split into two categories, National B and the Clubman’s.
The National B requires an MSA competition license and these competitors are generally competing for one of three possible championships. These are the Cotswold, and Welsh Association Championships and BTRDA, which are competed for throughout Britain. The Clubman’s event is for members of local clubs and doesn’t require a competition license, just a club membership. the winner of Class B
There were 18 competitors in National B and 22 in the Clubman’s event. There was an excellent turnout and quite a turnaround from two years ago when many clubs were struggling to fill their entries, causing some events to be cancelled due to lack of interest.
The weather was mostly fair on the day, with just a sprinkling of rain to dampen the course at the end of the day. There were three runs over eight tests, most of which were alternated between tests. This proved to be a successful formula, although it was a little tight for manoeuvring, which caused quite a lot of tyre smoke, but it proved to be an exciting venue.
The winner of National B was Jim Bryant in his Mazda MX5. The winner of the Clubman’s was Ollie Jenkins in his Mazda MX5, first in class B was Sam Wright in his Honda Civic. The first Ross and District was won by Andrew Bridgewater in his VW Polo. Many congratulations to all the award winners, most of whom came from Ross Motor Club.
The next RDMSC event is on April 1st at the Ross Livestock Centre at 12.30pm for a national auto test. To be part of this exciting, high standard sport, pop along to the club house on Kyrle Street, Thursday nights from 8pm to talk to club members.
