The Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club had a highly successful day at the Gloucestershire County Apparatus Championships recently, when their team won five medals. Most of the team of 13 also placed on individual apparatus.

The County Championships was hosted by the Club at the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Centre and the day was long starting at eight in the morning and finishing at 9.15pm!

Individual medal winners were Amelia Seal with a silver medal at Level 4, and bronze medals for Felicity Allen, Cara Charles, Violet Williams and Charlotte Cotterell.

Felicity Allen started the day off well with a bronze medal in the Level 6, age nine and a score of 41.45. She placed second on bars and fourth on vault and floor in a large group of 11.

In the same group, Hannah Roberts narrowly missed the podium only 0.2 behind Felicity in fourth place. Hannah came second on beam, while Tilly Davies-Lewis won the floor also coming fourth on beam.

Eden Addis also competed in a large group in the Level 6 age eight, scoring a creditable 42.35. Eden placed sixth overall and fourth on bars.

In the Level 5 age nine, Anastasia Hughes just missed out on a medal in fourth place, with a score of 41.05. She came fourth on vault, bars and floor.

Eloise Smith took third place on beam and was placed fifth overall.

Lola Newman came third on bars, but falls on beam lowered her overall score.

The final Forest gymnast in this group, Florence Eaton came sixth overall.

Ella Newland competed in the Level 5 age 10, scoring 41.25 in a very high scoring group.

Cara Charles had a good day taking second place on beam, third place on floor and the bronze medal, overall scoring 43.95 at Level 5 aged 11. Emily Holmes placed fourth with 43.2 and a third place on bars.

In the higher level, Level 4 age nine group, Amelia Seal won vault and beam, came second on bars and floor, and took the silver medal with an excellent score of 44.7.

Violet Williams followed this with a bronze medal in the Level 4 age 12 group. Violet came first on beam and third on all other apparatus.

At the end of a very long day, Charlotte Cotterell added to the medals with a bronze at Level 4 age 12. Charlotte came second on vault, beam and floor, which was a good end to a very long day.
