Ross-on-Wye U15s travelled to Canon Frome on Monday, July 17th, to record a comprehensive 94 run win in the penultimate game of the season.
The visitors got off to a good start when Adam Davies and Mikey Nixon scored 86 for the first wicket, and Nixon hit eight boundaries before being caught for 45.
For the first time this season, Davies retired on 50, taking just 35 deliveries, employing the cut shot well hit nine fours.
Ethan Lerego, stood in as Captain in the absence of George Aubrey. He kept the momentum going with a quick fire 35, and was joined by Aekudom Abbott, who scored 18 from just 14 balls, to help boost the total to 166 from 20 overs.
Ross showed their skill in the field, and restricted the Canon Frome openers to 29 from the first eight overs when Chloe Tingle despatched two victims in her third over, finishing with the best figures of 4-0-6-2. ’Keeper Mikey Nixon took a good catch from the bowling of Adam Parkes before Abbott and Davies combined twice, once each as bowler and fielder, to gain two well taken run outs. The best catch went to Ben Fletcher, who had already athletically saved a few boundaries in the deep, when he jumped and arched back to hold on to a difficult one handed chance.
Clive Jones was pleased with his team’s performance, and is looking forward to the last game of the season, at home to Colwall next Monday.
