ALEXANDER Springer scored a brilliant 122 as Ross-on-Wye 1st XI beat visitors Dales by 116 runs on Saturday.

The opener's imperious knock came off 120 balls and featured four sixes and 12 fours.

Muhammed Noufal Fazaludeen fired a quick-fire 41 off 34 balls in support, including seven fours and a six, with Charlie Bowden 21, Will Brookes 17 and Sachin Ali 10 also contributing to the total of 244-7 off 45 overs.

The Ross attack then made short shrift of the Dales batting, dismissing them for 128 in 32.2 overs, with Springer again starring with four wickets, backed by Ali with two, and Chloe Tingle, Bowden and Brookes one apiece.

Goodrich 1sts also hammered Stroud 2nds by 123 runs at their ‘Hilltop Paradise”, James O’Brien scoring 58 in their 216-7 40-over total, backed by Chris Tookey with 37 and Jack Wallis with 23.

And three wickets for Lewis and braces for Neil Price, Joe Provis and Matt Young then saw Stroud skittled for just 93 in 26.1 overs.

But the 2nds had to give second best away to Bream 1sts, losing by eight wickets.

Goodrich reached 150-8 in 40 overs, Sean Weller with a superb 80, backed by 30 from skipper Joseph Griffiths.

But Bream then powered to 153-2 in 26.2 overs, the first three batters getting identical 22s and fourth man Jack Weaving an unbeaten 66, with Sean Weller and Adam Kibble taking the wickets.

Newent 1sts also fell to a three-wicket loss away to Cheltenham 3rds after being dismissed for 102.

The bowlers had some success though, Ben Allard taking 4-14 and Liam Devries 2-25, before the hosts reached 103-7 with five overs left.

But Newent Lions won by the same margin at home to Gloucester 3rds, reaching the 169 all out 40-over target with just two balls left.

Paul Carter took 3-13 and Ollie Curtis 2-50 before skipper Jack Griffiths with 52 and James Griffiths 42 helped them to 170-7.

The 3rds also won by 10 wickets after skittling Ruardean Hill 3rds for just 34 in 18 overs, Rory Brown taking 6-11 before Newent reached 35 without loss in just six overs.

Elsewhere, Huntley skipper Alex Gray cracked an unbeaten 110 off 71 balls as the Gloucestershire 6A leaders beat Lydney 2nds by 10 wickets.

The visitors reached 164-7, Jason Saunders taking 4-31 and Charlie Gather 2-20.

Skipper Gray then unleashed himself on the Lydney attack, blasting three sixes and 18 fours, backed by fellow opener Wade Ridsdale with 33 not out, as they stormed to 165-0 in 24 overs.

Ross also hosted Tintern Monks in midweek in the Forest Hundred, but missed out by 26 runs.

The visitors racked up 144-4 in their 100 balls, Simon Swindells blasting 62 off 43 balls.

In reply, Kiran Krishnan with 36 off 26 balls, skipper Albert Johnson with 21 and David Newton with 19 made a fist of it, but the hosts couldn’t score quickly enough and finished on 118-6.

Goodrich 1sts host Huntley in a local derby on Saturday (June 20), while Ross-on-Wye travel to face Hay-on-Wye, and Newent 1sts host Rockhampton 2nds.
