GOODRICH 1sts held on to beat Gloucestershire 5 high-flyers Langford by eight runs at the Hilltop Paradise on Saturday, Andrew Brown firing an unbeaten 78 and Matt Young taking three wickets.

The hosts reached 210-4 off their 40 overs, Brown sharing a 90-run third-wicket stand with Sam Griffiths and a 65-run fourth-wicket stand with Jack Lewis.

Brown's 86-ball knock included 13 fours, while opener Griffiths scored 45 and skipper Lewis 20.

Their Oxfordshire opponents put on 81 for the first wicket and looked in a strong position at 137-2.

But four wickets for 12 runs,including Young's three, swung things Goodrich's way (149-6).

Langford then reached 192-6 with nine balls to play to keep things interesting, but three wickets, including two in the last over, sealed the deal, leaving the visitors high and dry on 202-9.

The 2nds had things easier away to Westbury 3rds, skittling the hosts for 105 in 31 overs before reaching 107-2 in 17 overs.

Aaron Thorley and Ralph Heaven Richards took two wickets apiece, while there were two run outs for Stuart Morgan and one for Megan Jones.

In reply, Ayrton Lowther cracked 54 supported by Lee Harrington with 18 to take them past the target.

Woolhope 1sts marched on at the top of Worcestershire 7 South, just reaching 246 with two wickets and four balls to spare in reply to Brockhampton 3rds’ 244-7.

Matt Taylor took four wickets and Dom Larkin and Charlie Hinge braces, while Andrew Tanner blasted 72 backed by Taylor 35 and Larkin 31.

But basement boys Fownhope Strollers were no match for hosts Builth Wells, as the Powys outfit won by a whopping 254 runs.

Builth’s Tim Richards with 124 and Aled Powell 102 shared a 219 third-wicket stand as the hosts compiled a huge 349-6 off their 45 overs.

And Strollers only lasted 22 overs in reply, all out for 95.
