Aston Ingham Cricket Club’s 2017 season is already underway, with pre season nets having started. Junior nets continue this Friday, February 17th at Newent Leisure Centre, from 5.30-6.30pm for six to 11 year olds, with 12-15s from 6.30-7.30pm. Again this year the lead coach is Bruce Ballance, (brother of England and newly appointed Yorkshire Captain Gary Ballance).
The Club’s own coaches, of which it has four ECL and six Coaching Assistants, will also be helping run all the sessions, which take place, after this Friday, on March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, and April 7th. The junior section is thriving with league sides at U9, 11, 13 and 15 levels, and boasts 60 members.
Adult nets take place on Sunday mornings, 8.30-10am, with Ballance again leading all sessions, at Newent Leisure Centre.
Dates remaining are February 26th, March 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, and April 3rd and 10th, before going outdoors on Thursday evenings during the season. The club runs two adult Saturday sides, the 1st XI will play in Division 4 of the Gloucestershire County League & the 2nd XI in Division 1 of The Forest League West.
Other upcoming events include the very popular annual Race Night taking place on Saturday, March 25th, at Aston Village Hall, Natwest Cricket Force, a day when the club comes together to get the ground ready for the exciting season ahead, and the annual Grand National Draw, on Saturday April 8th.
