AN imperious 112 not out off 86 balls from Anthony James, including four sixes and 15 fours, fired Aston Ingham 1sts to a 69-run West of England Premier home win over Chipping Campden on Saturday.
James and Oliver Henson, who also fired four sixes in a brilliant 72 not out, shared an unbeaten 178-run stand after openers Ed Bressington scored 26 and Gus Carini-Roberts 23, with the visitors reaching 248-2 in 50 overs.
Tight bowling then chipped away at Chipping's batting, two wickets in two balls and two more in quick order, including two ducks, reducing them from 90-2 to 93-6.
And the visitors never recovered, all out for 179 in the 45th over, with James, Sam Didcote, Dan Smith and Mohamed Dilshad taking two wickets apiece.
The 2nds had a tougher time, losing by eight wickets away to Oldlands 1sts.
Aston set a decent 202-4 off 40 overs, Will Green firing an unbeaten 54 as part of a 76-run stand with David Skyrme who scored 36, Jimmy Davies 29 and Joshua Henson 30 also sharing a 77-run opening partnership and Ed Bell contributing an unbeaten 20.
But Oldlands steamed to 162 without loss and reached 205-2 with 2.5 overs to spare.
The 3rds stormed to a 143-run win away to Westbury 2nds however, Mark Mathias firing 59, Harry Hollamby 55 not out and Nathan Davis an unbeaten 21 in a 225-5 40-over total.
And the hosts were then skittled for just 82 in 25.2 overs, including four ducks, Simon King grabbing 4-20 and Philip Leighton 4-15.
The 4ths were also big winners by 100 runs at home to Yorkley Star 1sts after reaching 195-6 off 40 overs, Mike Thorn scoring 57 off 54 balls, including 11 fours, backed by Will Kelsall 27 not out, Drew Stafford 24 and Colin Leighton 22 not out.
Star's light was then dimmed by Aston’s attack, all out for 85 in 26.5 overs, Mike Cluley taking 4-31, Kelsall 2-22 and Joseph Gardner 2-12.
Newent 1sts enjoyed a thumping 125-run home win over Rockhampton 2nds as well, Will Trumper blasting a brilliant 132 not out, including 10 sixes and 11 fours, backed by Jack Cowles with a 58 that saw six sixes and 10 fours.
The hosts blasted 245-8 in 40 overs before dismissing the visitors for 120 in 25.5 overs, Ben Allard taking a superb six wickets and Josh Hayes three.
Newent Lions also roared to a 107-run victory away to Ashleworth Woodpeckers 1sts, setting a 40-over target of 208-5 before dismissing the hosts for 101 in 33 overs.
Nigel Brown scored 53, sharing a 73-run third-wicket partnership with Josh Ralph who scored 34, Paddy Thompson 29 not out, Andrew Brookes 22 and James Griffiths 20.
Woodpeckers were soon 29-5 in reply and did well to make 100 as Rory Brown laid waste with five wickets, backed by Ben Ward with two.
The 3rds were undone by four wickets though in a low scoring match away to Lydney 3rds.
Newent were 69 all out, but caused the hosts some jitters reducing them to 42-6 before Lydney reached 70 without further loss, Patrick Thompson taking three wickets and Jimmer Cunliffe two.
Wednesday night (June 24) fixtures include – Aston v Ruardean Hill, Newent v Charlton Kings.
On Saturday (June 27), Aston 1sts visit Charlton with the 2nds hosting Parkend 1sts, while Newent 1sts visit Great Rissington and the Lions host Witcombe 2nds.
