Ross 1sts continued their excellent recent form with a resounding 77 run victory over Ledbury to record a third consecutive win in their Marches League Division 2 campaign.
Ledbury won the toss and elected to bowl on a bright but breezy afternoon and quickly found themselves chasing leather to all parts of the ground as Ross openers Angus McIntyre and Masud Ahmed set about the bowling from the off. The powerful Ahmed raced to 55 at better than a run a ball in an opening partnership of 90 before being caught in the outfield trying to add to his tally of four sixes.
Skipper Jack Donovan joined McIntyre and the pair continued in much the same vein, adding a further 106 for the second wicket. Donovan mixed careful defence with a total of 10 boundaries as he amassed 64 from just 54 balls whilst 16-year-old McIntyre showed exquisite technique and a maturity well beyond his years as he batted serenely through the innings and, in doing so, reached three figures for the very first time. His 100th run was met with great applause and genuine warmth from players on both sides as the spirit of cricket shone through and he finished the innings unbeaten on 111 (12x4, 1x6 from 119 balls).
