Promising future for young cricketers

John Kyrle High School have had some very successful cricket players this year. All of their teams competed in the Herefordshire schools cricket leagues.
Year 8 and 9 teams both narrowly missed out on a place in the cup semi-finals, but both progressed to the plate final. Year 8s were narrowly beaten, but the Year 9 team won a close encounter against John Masefield. The Year 7 team had an excellent first season finishing 2nd in their group having beaten John Masefield, Kingstone and Hereford Cathedral School. In the semi-final they lost the game, agonisingly, by one run.
The team however improved in every game and show a lot of future promise. Mr. Donoghue hopes the boys will play a lot of club cricket in the summer and be ready for some winter nets in February/March next year.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
