Local cricket club, Strollers, celebrated in style at the recent Marches League Awards Night, scooping up no less than 5 trophies.
The Fownhope based club enjoyed a record setting year in their 54 year history with the 1st XI crowned Division 2 champions and the 2nd XI runners-up in Division 4. Additionally, there was also individual success for three players, with George Wood-Cole, Dan Powell and Nick Terry all picking up Marches League awards.
The club is already starting to plan for the 2019 season, with winter indoor nets already booked for January. This is in addition to entering a team in the Herefordshire Indoor League which also starts in the new year.
Strollers run two competitive Saturday sides in the Marches League and also run a friendly side on Sundays. Next season, the 1st XI will make their debut in Division 1 of the Marches League with the 2nd XI promoted to Division 3 after last year’s success.
New players of any ability are always welcome, so if you are interested in coming to winter nets or to play indoor cricket, please contact the club by emailing [email protected]See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
