HALF century knocks from Sachin Anil and Muhammed Noufal Fazaludeen helped Ross CC to a statement 93-run home win over Worcestershire 8A South leaders Bartestree & Lugwardine on Saturday.

Openers Alexander Springer scored 19 and Paul Franklin 16 as the hosts reached 47-2, before Fazaludeen joined Albert Johnson in a 70-run third wicket stand, the former blasting 58 off just 39 balls, including three sixes and five fours, before holing out (117-3).

That was soon 119-4 with the quick departure of Herefordshire Women's skipper Chloe Tingle, but the arrival of Anil kept the runs coming, forming a quickfire 31-run partnership with Johnson who scored 19 before being bowled (150-5).

Anil and Amit Navalgund added another 37 with the latter scoring 12 (187-6), and the former finally holed out for a blistering 62 off 38 balls, which included three sixes and five fours (199-7), with Ross then all out for 207 in 44.3 overs.

It was a decent total, and the hosts made immediate inroads into the league leaders' batting, reducing them to 33-5.

Anil sent skipper opener Tim Fawcett packing lbw for a duck (5-1), and Tingle made it 6-2 catching and bowling new man Mark Eckley for one.

Christopher Keywood made it 26-4 with two wickets to leave the visitors rocking and added two more to reduce them to 66-6, finishing with figures of 4-23.

Springer struck almost immediately to make it 67-7, and despite a slight revival, further wickets for Navalgund (2-27) and Tingle (2-17) saw Bartestree & Lugwardine all out for 114 in 41.4 overs.

Ross also gave a battling midweek performance at home to Forest Hundred champions Cinderford St Johns before losing out by 29 runs.

The visitors were indebted to a blistering 147 off 56 balls from Kade Smith, including an amazing 13 sixes and 11 fours, as they reached a huge 217-2 off 100 balls.

To the hosts' credit, their batters made a fist of it in reply, reaching a highly creditable 188-7 with Kiran Krishnan firing 36, Charlie Bowden 33 off just 14 balls and Michael Willis 23.

Elsewhere, Goodrich 1sts suffered a sobering 245-run loss at Oxfordshire outfit Langford in Gloucestershire 5 at the weekend.

The hosts blasted an incredible 344-4 off their 40 overs, Hector Gray firing 30 fours and a six in a 103-ball 172 after sharing a 212 opening stand.

Jack Waldis took two wickets and Ryan Ward one on a tough day in the field.

And the huge total cast a shadow over Goodrich's reply as they were skittled for 99 in 25.5 overs, including six ducks, with only Waldis with 36, Simon Sharpe 20 and Ward 18 troubling the scoreboard.

But the 2nds won by five wickets at home to Westbury 2nds, reaching 176-5 in just 27.5 overs in reply to 175-4 off 40 overs.

Adam Kibble and Megan Jones took wicket braces for the hosts before skipper Ayrton Lowther fired 53 off 27 balls, including three sixes and six fours, backed by 37 from 28 balls from Ralph Heaven-Richards, 32 from Matt Davies and 21 from Ben Fletcher.
