With the 1st XI fixture falling foul of the weather at Himbleton, all attention turned to the reverse 2nd XI fixture at The Park. The players of both sides are well known to each other and, unfortunately for Ross-on-Wye, it was their nemesis Casper Jones who haunted them again proving to be the match winner on the day.

Ross lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Casper was immediately ghosting in to reduce the home side to 24-5 as he blew away the top order.

Dee Springer (15) and Jim Lewis (10) battled hard for a period as they tried to stem the tide but they soon perished and Ross were only able to muster a total of 56 all out, Jones finishing with 5-21 from his 12 overs.

Himbleton themselves then initially struggled against the Ross attack and youngster Adam Davies was soon celebrating a wicket courtesy of a one handed catch by wicket keeper Lewis.

Charlie Cole then followed this up by clean bowling two batsmen in an over and at 27-3 the visitors were suddenly nervous. A couple of lucky escapes followed before the Himbleton batsmen finally came to terms with the bowling and completed a seven wicket victory.

Another double header awaits next weekend when the 1sts host Malvern at The Park whilst the 2nds head to the hills in search of their first victory of the season.
