The Ross-on-Wye 2nds travelled to meet the Glangrwyney 2nds for their latest Marches League Division 4 encounter.

Ross bowled first and on a damp pitch with cloud cover overhead, the hosts made slow progress against the nagging persistence of opening bowlers Adam Parkes and Lizzie Jeffryes.

However, Ross still had to wait until the 12th over before taking the first wicket when a great chase and return by Nick (Pingu) Watts created a run out. From the solid position of 57-1, the hosts were then mesmerised by the accurate bowling of Paul Morris and Theo Minnie and wickets fell at regular intervals. Morris ended with an excellent return of 10-4-11-3, whilst Minnie claimed 2-32 from his ten overs. George Aubrey took 1-27 whilst Jeffryes (3-32) returned to chip in with late wickets as the hosts closed on 125 all out.

Following a fantastic tea, openers Richard Jeffryes 21 and Keith Flitton 16 got Ross off to a good start before Si Timewell blitzed his way to an entertaining 25. Alex Davies looked in great form before misjudging a straight ball on 20 so it was left to the dependable Morris to see Ross home with an unbeaten 23 and victory by 4 wickets.

The 2nds will now look to close their season with victory at Bartestree in the final game which could see the team achieve a very creditable third place finish.
