Ross-On-Wye 1st XI travelled to Almeley CC for their first away fixture of the Marches League campaign on Saturday, May 6th. They put up a fantastic team performance which gave Ross CC their first win in the League.
Good bowling from Ross meant that Almeley finished their innings on 174 for seven, giving Ross a big total to chase.
After a nice tea, the Hedgehogs were brimming with confidence as Stu Mair flayed a couple of early boundaries to start the innings. However, this confidence was shortlived as, at 16 overs, Ross were reduced to 30 for four. But as the game reached the final over and Ross needed five to win, with Tingle on strike, and after missing the first two balls, the pressure was on.
However, this didn’t last as he dispatched the next ball out of the ground for a match winning six, to the jubilation of the rest of the team. Next week the 1st XI travel away to Eastnor and the 2nd XI travel to Woolhope as the season continues.
