Ross-on-Wye Cricket Club first team enjoyed a convincing win over Colwall on Saturday, August 24th, to make amends after losing against Woolhope on Saturday, August 17th,

The seconds also came close as they were within one run of stealing a victory at home to Woolhope seconds, when team stalwart, Wayne Husbands, could unfortunately only score a single from the final ball of the 40 overs when chasing 149.

Last Saturday’s visit by Colwall gave Ross firsts a chance to win again, which they took, despite again losing ten wickets with overs remaining, amassing 174; Tony Laws top scoring with 75 including ten fours and a six. In reply, Colwall could not cope with the accuracy and speed of Ross’ Adam Davies who took his first five-for featuring a quadruple wicket maiden over.

During the matches at Woolhope Paul Morris had once again shone with the bat, making his fifth fifty of 2019, but could not go on to seal the victory that Si Timewell and Husbands so nearly secured.

Earlier in the afternoon, Andrew Stacey had taken four wickets with his accurate bowling, Husbands claiming three, while Morris only conceded 14 runs from eight overs.  Woolhope maintained their mid-table position, just above Ross in Marches League Division 4.

In the Division 2 clash at league leaders Woolhope, the home side scored an imposing 206 from their 45 overs which Ross firsts could not chase down, losing by 70 runs.
