Ross Under 15s continued their 2017 season with a good home win over Eastnor on Monday night.

Eastnor have a young side, and have lost all their games so far, but always approach games against Ross with enthusiasm.

Ross Captain George Aubrey chose to bat and opened alongside Chloe Tingle, who had hit an unbeaten 48 for Brockhampton Ladies the day before. They set up a good foundation partnership of 36 when Tingle was caught out, bringing in Mikey Nixon who scored a flowing 50 from 31 balls before retiring. George Aubrey had hit four boundaries when he was bowled on 38 - his best score of the season. Ben Fletcher was cheered by his team mates as he scored 12 from the last few overs alongside the big hitting Rob Nixon, bringing the Ross total to 165.

The home bowlers quickly made inroads into Eastnor’s batting line up with four wickets in the first eight overs. Aekudom Abbott took a sparkling catch from the bowling of Ethan Lerego before effecting a run out in combination with ’keeper Mikey Nixon. Aek went on achieve figures of 3-0-10-2, clean bowling two of the middle order, so was very pleased with his contribution. Alexander Springer gained his first wicket of 2017 as Ben Fletcher held a fine catch at mid off; Ben then bowled two maiden overs out of three to also complete a fine evening’s work.

Eastnor were pleased to finish their 20 overs without being bowled out completely, but Ross had restricted them to 38 runs to secure a good victory.

On Monday, Ross have a crunch game away to Brockhampton, both teams locked at the top of the league.
