Aston Ingham Cricket Club are to host The Royal London Champions, Gloucestershire in a 20 over a side Charity Match, on Sunday, July 3rd at their Stockings Field Ground.
The match was originally scheduled as part of Hamish Marshall’s benefit season, last year, but the event ended up clashing with the RL 50 semi final at Headingly.
Hamish, who visited the club earlier in the season with club head coach Richard Dawson, promised to offer the club another date. Hamish is very kindly donating his entire match fee to The Pied Piper Appeal, a charity that raises money for sick and disabled children, based in Gloucester.
Marshall has said he is looking to bring Gloucestershire Australian ‘run machine’ Michael Klinger along with Andrew Tye, ex captain Alex Gidman as part of his team.
The other big draw of the event is the return for the second time in three years of Test Match Special Legend, Henry ‘Blowers’ Blofeld to undertake full match commentary and to entertain the luncheon guests with cricket anecdotes from the past and present.
The Day will commence at 11am when for an hour there will be coaching and games on the field for the juniors, followed by a two course buffet style luncheon for marquee guests, a fully licensed bar, an auction, and of course raconteuring from Henry Blofeld. U15 are welcome in the marquee for the luncheon, and their menu will include two items from the barbeque, followed by raspberries and cream.
The 20 overs a side match is due to start at 2.30pm and will conclude at about 5.15pm. There will be a BBQ & bar available to all guests on the day.
Marquee ticket prices for adults are priced at £25, while children aged 15 and under cost £7.50. Tables of 10 can be purchased, or any combination of, and the club will satisfy specified seating requirements.
Tickets to watch the match only are priced at £5 for adults, and £2 for children. Family tickets are £12. The club are hoping to have face painting and Childrens Go Karts operating for younger children prior to the match.
