Ross-on-Wye 1st XI hosted Knighton-on-Teme on Saturday, August 12th as the quest for the Marches League Division 2 title continued. Despite losing the toss, Ross still got their preferred choice of bowling first, on what looked like an excellent wicket.

Knighton then lost key opening batsman, Matty James, in the first over of the game as Adam Davies, refreshed by the Cornish wind and rain, had him caught by Angus McIntyre much to the jubilation of the vocal Hedgehogs.

Ross continued to dominate the game and this latest win sees Ross remain 25 points ahead of second placed, Cleobury Mortimer, and the top two clash at The Park this coming weekend. Any bonus points obtained from this fixture will see Ross clinch promotion, whilst victory will give the Hedgehogs their first league title in a very long time. All support is welcome for what is expected to be an excellent encounter.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here.
