In a thoroughly one-sided match at Kingstone High School, Wormelow beat Glangrwyney CC by 179 runs in a dominating performance.

Wormelow won the toss and chose to bat, with skipper Jamie Langford and youngster Monty Kennerley opening the batting. They both eventually departed within the first 10 overs, with Langford hitting 23 and Kennerley eight.

With the score at 37-3, Verry arrived at the crease. Alongside Dennis Hohne (43) in a stand of 115, he steered Wormelow to what looked like a good foundation after 30 overs of 152-4. Chris Stonadge, after an abysmal run of four consecutive ducks, saw out the innings with Verry and put on a magnificent partnership of 114 to give Wormelow a seemingly unassailable total of 266.

Verry (113*) had dominated proceedings and Stonadge (42*) ably backed him up. Hooper (2-22) and Davies (1-38) were the pick of the bowlers for the Welsh side.

Glangrwyney were unfortunate to come up against an in-from Wormelow bowling attack, eventually being bowled out for just 87.

Chris Haston (3-18), Harriet Cuthbert (2-25), Huw Griffiths (2-34) and Ollie Langford (2-5) all contributed to a fantastic win for the home side. Glangrwyney’s only shining light was Astle (29) who put up a stern fight before departing.

Wormelow hope to repeat their exploits with a fixture away at Bosbury on Saturday.
