Ross Juniors put in a great first half display to earn three points and become league champions. This comes just a few weeks after winning the cup.
Ross got off to a great start after four minutes when Ted Loftus' low shot could only by parried into the path of brother Joe Loftus and he made no mistake from close range.
It was 2-0 in the tenth minute when Luke Mayo played in Luke Gray and he finished with ease. Four minutes later it was 3-0, a terrific corner from Chris Davies was powered in by defender Tom Burford.
After 26 minutes a Liam Davies cross was headed home with power by Luke Gray for his second of the game. Another great cross by Liam Davies was acrobatically finished by Rob Davies to make the score 5-0 in the 34th minute from 12 yards.
In the second half Ross found it hard to maintain the first half display as changes were made to the team and in the 71st minute the opposition pulled a goal back with a great strike.
This jolted the champions and they went through the gears again to show their class. Luke Mayo scored with a stupendous 43 yard strike that left the goalie stranded looking at the sky in the 75th minute.
In the 85th minute Joe Loftus chipped the ball over the defence for Liam Davies to score his 1st ever senior goal, and what a celebration he did as well with an Irish jig impression.
The final goal came in the last minute to make the final score 8-1 when Joe Loftus split the defence with a terrific pass for Dale Brooke to run onto. He hit it with so much power that his shot knocked the keeper over. Then he followed up to finish with ease to make the final score 8-1.
To wrap the title up with two games left is very much deserved for a great bunch of players. In the rare instances when things have not gone well they dug deep and showed real character and determination to grind out results.
The Eagle Inn man of the match was shared between Liam Davies and Luke Mayo.
