This was the first game back after Christmas for Ross Juniors and it certainly showed in the first 15 minutes with Ross giving away possession needlessly on an awkward playing surface.

Second placed Woolhope took the lead with a very lucky goal, goalkeeper Dale Brooke cleared the ball only for it to strike a Woolhope player and agonisingly trickle over the line despite the best efforts of Tom Burford, 1-0 Woolhope.

Ross started to grow into the game as the half time whistle approached, on 35 minutes some comical defending from Juniors resulted in Matt Davies clearing the ball into an unlucky Tom Burford, and the ball ricocheted into the top corner.

Despite being 2-0 down the game was very tight and Ross found themselves back in the game with a fortunate goal of their own, big centre back Sam Loftus sent a cross into the box only to over hit it and see it fly over the keeper's head from 35 yards. 2-1 Woolhope.

Just before the break some rather shabby defending from Woolhope resulted in Andy Francis firing wide.

In complete contrast to the first half, Juniors started very strongly and after a good move involving Will Barker and Andy Francis, Chris Davies heads wide.

Ross piled forward in search of an equaliser, Woolhope were looking to hit Ross on the counter attack, on 50 minutes Ross conceded a foul on the edge of the box, even with a 5 man wall, the player managed to bend the ball around it, goalkeeper Del Boy made a good save low to his left.

On 60 minutes Ross scored yet another own goal, after a devilish delivery from a free kick, Matt Davies headed into his own net to make the score 3-1 Woolhope.

After 65 minutes Ross found themselves back in the game after a good move down the right. Birthday boy Andy Francis sent in a cross with his left foot with Will Barker heading it in to make the score 3-2.

Ross carried on pressing and with 15 minutes to play, Joe Loftus let fly from 25 yards and his shot rocketed into the top corner, 3-3.

In stoppage time the battering ram Luke Gray put himself and his sizeable frame on the line for the Ross cause throwing himself in front of an attacker to stop a certain goal after a scramble in the box from a corner.

The Eagle Inn man of the match went to Joe Loftus after a wonder strike and a terrific performance in midfield.

Ross Juniors entertain Real Toros at home next Sunday in the league and will be looking to continue their impressive season.
