It’s proving to be a busy start to the new year for those in charge at Ross Rowing Club, as they look to repair the damage caused by the November flooding.

With the excessive wet weather leading to the River Wye bursting its banks, the club-house facilities at the Rowing Club were flooded as a result with the gym, bar and changing rooms all submerged with flood water.

The boat-house next door was not affected due to being on higher raised ground.

Work is currently ongoing at the site with the floor recently being taken up, with the club planning on taking the opportunity to renovate with-in the club-house by erecting communal changing rooms with individual stalls to help free up more space with-in the building.

In the meantime, the club are using a mobile container and have also received lots of help and support from local leisure facilities including the Halo Leisure Centre who have kindly offered to provide use of their changing facilities and showers in the event of a capsize.

One of the more well-known clubs in the country, Ross Rowing club has over 250 members and hosts the second biggest regatta in the country.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
