There was a great game between Ross Juniors U11 Royals and Ross Juniors U12 Royals in which they took even honours.

The U11 Royals came into this game unbeaten so far this season and this was only the U12 Royal’s second match together, but it was a great contest.

The U11s started well, but it was the U12s who took the lead with a nice finish from Seb. The U11s continued to have the better of the early exchanges and were soon on level terms as (little) Ollie squeezed his shot in off the post, and they went ahead, following a corner as Sol flicked the ball on and it went in off a defender. A good finish from Harvey put the U11s 3 – 1 up and it could have been worse for the U12s but for a good save from Rhys.

The U12s finished the first half well and forced Rory to make a great save to deny Jamie, but unfortunately he couldn’t do anything about Jake H’s powerful shot that found the top corner to reduce the deficit.

The second half was an even contest with play switching from one end to the other. The U11s could have extended their lead but Sol was unlucky to see his shot come back off the post and Ollie forced Roo (now in goal for the U12s) into a great save early on. Sam thought he had bagged himself a goal, as his powerful shot from the edge of the area could not be held by Owen Way in the U11 goal, but the keeper grabbed it at the second attempt as it rolled towards the goal.

Roo did well to deny Sol and then the U12s came close as Costin shot wide when he went through on goal. The U12s equalised midway through the second half with a great run and finish from Jake T.

Following another great save from Roo there was a great chance for Costin to score the winner for the U12s, but Owen made a great save in the U11’s goal and Jack was denied as he followed up.
