The Bulls battled out a hard-earned three points on Boxing Day as a James Roberts’ penalty ten minutes from time gave them a 1-0 victory over Kidderminster Harriers in front of a crowd of over 3,200 at Edgar Street.

Bustling front-man, Mike Symons, once more gave a good account of himself as he kept a robust Harriers’ back-line on their toes throughout the afternoon.

“It was a tough battle for us,” he admitted. “Our work ethic was spot-on; we managed to keep ourselves in the game and then took our chance from the penalty spot towards the end. I’d say that it was more of a solid performance than anything else. There are times when we have to be able to win ugly and play effective football, and this was one of those occasions.

“We have to be able to find the right balance between mixing it up and when to keep it down and play, and this is something that we are getting to grips with now. The crowd also played their part; they stayed with us and kept us going with their backing so it was nice to emerge with all three points, particularly after the last game where we were gutted not to bring anything home from Bradford (Park Avenue) having out-played them in the first half. The win means that it was a good Boxing Day for us and now we’ll be looking to build on this when we play host to Chester. There’s certainly no let-up at this time of the year but we face each new challenge head-on.” By Andy Poole
