The Bulls enjoyed a 3-0 opening day win over Blyth Spartans in the National League North on Saturday, August 4th, 2018.
Right from kick-off, the Bulls were on the front foot. Just in the opening ten minutes of play Lance Smith, Jennison Myrie-Williams and Harry White had all registered attempts on goal and if it wasn’t for the handy work of Spartans goalkeeper Peter Jameson, the away side could well have had a horrific start to the new season.
The onslaught continued as the half went on, with the Bulls winning possession upfield with an impressive high press, really testing both full-backs in Green and White with the flair and pace of both Jennison Myrie-Williams and Lance Smith.
From the first corner of the game, Ryan Green struck the post with a powerful headed effort before striker Harry White could only volley over a rebound. The Bulls really had started with a bang but were still lacking the first goal of the match as the game went on.
Forward Jennison Myrie-Williams’ tame effort from 15-yards out ensured the wait continued, with the 30-year-old only managing to fire a low shot at the Blyth keeper Jameson, after some neat footwork on the edge of the box.
Blyth simply did not have the quality when they tried to move the ball forward, with new Captain Jordan Liburd next to the experienced Vice Captain Ryan Green making easy work of stopping any potential threats to Martin Horsell’s goal.
As the Hereford pressure continued, Blyth became more stretched and were often gifting the ball to Hereford in very dangerous positions.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
