After a series of disappointing results away from home, Ross Juniors returned to winning ways beating Central Ajax Rangers 3:2 in a tense game at Ross Sports Centre on Saturday morning.
Almost back to full strength, the Juniors started well and put the visitors on the defensive from the kick off. Their pressure was rewarded after 15 minutes, when a clever pass from Jordan found Owain unmarked in the middle. Then the young Welshman did the rest, calmly shooting into the top corner.
Ross were putting some good moves together, with Aaron linking well in the midfield, and a second goal came after 35 minutes, when Joel powered in a header from a corner.
In the second half Central Ajax came back into the game and scored after a defensive lapse in the Ross defence, but the home team always looked like extending their lead. Pirlo came close with a shot over the bar, but Owain’s second was a peach, a lovely chip over the goalkeeper’s head and into the net.
A few minutes later Central Ajax scored another making the remainder of the game an edgy watch for the home fans, but in the end Ross came out comfortable winners 3:2.
Hopefully this win will settle the Juniors’ nerves and the members of the team will be able to follow it up with another victory against visitors from Heath Hayes on Saturday, December 3rd.
