Ross Juniors U12s travelled to Withington in the cup this week. Looking at the league table and recent results Ross could have been excused for thinking this would be an easy game but had a number of players missing.

Ross started quickly and threatened the Withington goal and were rewarded with Ollie having an easy tap in after a good cross from Jake, and Jake soon extended the visitor’s lead as he ran through and scored.

Ross kept up the pressure and had two goals disallowed when Jake was flagged offside after putting the ball smartly away and Ollie scored after receiving a ball from a free kick, hammering the ball in the corner. Ethan also had two good chances that just missed the target. The Withington team tried hard to put Ross under pressure but Roo acted as a sweeper and kept them at bay.

In the second half Jake H scored a further two goals and Ollie added one more putting Ross 5 up. In the last 20 minutes Roo came out of goal and set JT up with a good goal. Theo nearly got himself a goal late on after bursting through the defence from the halfway line but put his shot wide. A good all round performance with Julien and Ethan playing well to round off a convincing win.

With a great all-round performance, the Saltrock Scaffolding Man of the Match award went to Jake Hedges.
