Hosting league leaders Coventry United, Ross Juniors U15s went down to their heaviest defeat of the season, winding up on the receiving end of a 9:3 hammering.

Coventry are clinical in front of goal and scored with their first attack after five minutes, but Ross are nothing if not resilient, and for the next 25 minutes they played some good football and came close when Joel shot just over the bar.

However Coventry are top of the table for good reason and repeatedly punished the Juniors’ defensive errors, scoring four goals in quick succession in the last 15 minutes of the half to open up a five goal lead.

This gave the home team a mountain to climb, but they never gave up fighting; Josh P was tireless in defence and new boy Max put in a good performance alongside him.

The visitors scored four more goals in the second half, but Ross finally got on the score sheet when Owain netted after 65 minutes.

He then made a second when he was brought down in the box leaving Joel to score with the penalty.

In the final few minutes Joel scored another, but the result was already a foregone conclusion.

To their credit, Ross never gave up fighting and showed great team spirit, despite being up against a superior side. On Saturday, the Juniors welcome Stratford Town to the Ross-on-Wye Sports Centre.
