Ross-on-Wye Juniors U10s winning start to the season came to an end away at Westfields, where they fell to a 3-2 defeat.
It was a hesitant start from the visitors, and they just couldn’t keep hold of the ball, so it was no surprise when Westfields went ahead with a fine close range shot.
Harvey Briscoe made a couple of excellent saves in the Ross goal to deny the home side before Theo Roblin tested the Westfield keeper with a firm strike.
The Ross pressure soon told, as Eddie Price equalised with a great run and finish, but Westfield, who always looked dangerous in attack, scored two late goals to go in 3–1 up at half time.
The defence of David Mason and Jacob Talbot snuffed out any threats as Ross continued to create chances but couldn’t find a deserved equaliser. Another run from Eddie almost ended with his hat-trick before Harvey saw his shot saved.
Josh Evans, now in goal, made a great save to keep Ross in the game before the Westfield keeper kept out multiple shots from Bill, Harvey and Eddie right at the death.
The Masons Fencing & Firewood Man of the Match went to Eddie for his hard work and two goals.
